I actually decided to have my bachelorette party in Mexico City, and let me tell you, it was the perfect choice! Not only is CDMX a vibrant, colorful, foodie paradise, but itโs also a central hub with easy flights from across the U.S., making it ideal for a group getaway. While mine was technically a โlast fiesta,โ you can use this itinerary for any girls’ (or guys) trip (or just a fun getaway!). Mexico City has so much to offer.
Where to Stay in Mexico City
I recommend basing yourself in the Condesa neighborhood. It is one of the safest and most walkable neighborhoods in Mexico City. Condessa is filled with leafy streets, cute cafes, and trendy restaurants. Our Airbnb, Casa Alma, was perfect for a group stay, and having it as a home base made it easy to relax between adventures. However, I listed some of the top hotels and more vacation rentals below!
Areas to Stay in Mexico City:
- Condesa: Safe, walkable, full of parks, brunch spots, and trendy cafes. Perfect for first-time visitors.
- Roma Norte: Hip, youthful, and artsy with tons of nightlife and boutique hotels.
- Polanco: High-end, sleek, with luxury hotels and designer shopping. Known as the Beverly Hills of Mexico City.
- Centro Histรณrico: Close to landmarks like the Zรณcalo and Palacio de Bellas Artes, though a bit busier and louder.

Day 1 โ Arrive in Mexico City
Your first day in Mexico City will be all about settling in and kicking things off with a little style. After arriving and checking into your accommodation, freshen up and get ready for the night ahead. As stated before, Condesa is the perfect home base. It is extremely walkable, and full of leafy streets lined with cafรฉs and restaurants.
Start your evening with pre-dinner cocktails. We chose Salรณn Palomilla, a chic spot with an awesome retractable roof. If Salon Palomilla isn’t your style, don’t worry, there are so many cocktail bars to choose from – I listed a few of my favorites below!
After cocktails, head to dinner! We walked to Rosetta, which is one of the most iconic restaurants in Mexico City. The atmosphere was stunning, romantic, warm, and filled with greenery, and the food more than lived up to the hype. Again, you can pick from any restaurant of your choosing!
Mel’s Travelers Tip: Make ALL your reservations well in advance! Especially if you are traveling with a larger group.

Day 2 โ Hot Air Balloon Adventure + Tacos + Rooftops
Hot Air Balloon over Teotihuacan Pyramids
Time to ride and shine! The second day in Mexico City will start bright and early with a once-in-a-lifetime experience: a hot air balloon ride over the Teotihuacan pyramids. The 4 a.m. wake-up will be rough, but the moment you float above the ancient ruins at sunrise, it is all worth it and absolutely surreal.
Who to book through? I cannot recommend this Airbnb experience enough. They took incredible care of us, from a private pickup in the city to guiding us on a walk through the pyramids themselves. Afterward, we were treated to a private rooftop breakfast overlooking the valley and finished the afternoon at a cozy local brewery. Our guide was outstanding and made the entire day seamless and unforgettable!

Other booking options can be found on Viator or GetYourGuide.
DIY Taco & Rooftop Tour
- El Pescadito (shrimp tacos = life-changing).
- Hotel Condesa DF Rooftop (trendy and perfect for sunset).
- Taco Orinoco (popular spot for meaty tacos).
- Supra Roma and / or Balmori for rooftop cocktails.
- Contramar for the famous fish taco
Once you arrive back in the city, take the afternoon to rest and recharge at your Airbnb before rallying for a DIY taco and rooftop crawl – one of the best ways to explore Mexico Cityโs food scene. We started at El Pescadito, where the shrimp tacos are nothing short of life-changing. From there, we made our way to the Hotel Condesa DF rooftop, a trendy spot perfect for sipping cocktails while watching the sunset. Next up was Taco Orinoco, a wildly popular spot known for its hearty meat tacos. We wrapped up the night with rooftop cocktails at Supra Roma and Balmori Roofbar, both delivering great drinks and city views. If you are still hungry, make sure to add Contramar to your list!

Day 3 โ Colorful Coyoacรกn + Xochimilco Floating Fiesta
Mel’s Travelers Tip: I recommend booking today’s excursion with EXOTIK City Tours. They made the day so fun and special! They will pick you up directly from your hotel, take you to Coyoacรกn, then to Xochimilco, and bring you back in a private shuttle. From the seamless transportation to the festive decorations on board, every detail was taken care of, making the whole experience effortless and extra memorable. Highly recommend booking with them if you want a stress-free, fun-filled day!
After a chill breakfast (pastries from a local cafรฉ), head to Coyoacรกn, one of the most charming neighborhoods in Mexico City. The cobblestone streets, colorful houses, and lively markets make it the perfect place to wander, shop, and soak up the atmosphere. Eat lunch here before heading to Xochimilco.
From Coyoacรกn, it is time for one of the most iconic CDMX experiences: a boat ride through Xochimilco. We were in a private trajinera (the big, colorful wooden boats youโve probably seen all over Instagram), and it was such a highlight.

Melโs Pro Tip: Dress in bright colors, bring your own drinks and snacks, and be ready for mariachi bands to float up alongside you. Itโs festive, itโs fun, and itโs one of those activities that makes you feel like youโre truly celebrating life.
That night, head out to a fun dinner! We chose to go to Carajillo. The restaurant had loud music with wild presentations, and plenty of fire and sparks; it was more of an experience than just dinner. However, the food honestly was not that great – so if you’re looking for more of a high end cuisine, this is not the place. Afterward, hit the town for dancing and bar hopping!
Day 4 โ Brunch + Chill Sunday
By Day 4, you will be ready for a slower pace. Start your morning off with brunch at Lardo, a gorgeous spot with the kind of brunch food that makes you want to linger all morning. (Seriously, add this one to your list!)
One of the best surprises of the trip was how lively Sundays are in Mexico City. Every Sunday, the entire Paseo de la Reforma shuts down to cars and opens up for bikers, joggers, rollerbladers, and families out for a stroll. We rented bikes and joined in; it was such a fun way to see the city without the chaos of traffic.
The day is fairly open, so explore the parks, visit museums etc.

That evening, we stayed in and had a private chef cook dinner for us at the Airbnb. After so many days of going nonstop, it was the perfect reset. The food was incredible, the vibes were cozy, and we ended the night playing bachelorette games and laughing way too hard.

Day 5 โ Departures or Continue Exploring
As your time in Mexico City wraps up, youโve got two choices: head home or keep the adventure going!
Mexico City is massive, with endless neighborhoods to wander, museums to explore, and food to taste. If you have more time, you could easily add a few extra days (or weeks!) to keep discovering new corners of the city or surrounding areas.
