Monkey Forest Sanctuary in Bali

Ubud

Ubud is a trendy artistic village located in the center of Bali. The area is known for its surrounding rice terraces, monkey forest, and the famous sunrise hike up to Mount Batur. Ubud offers a little bit of everything, from nature to shops and restaurants it truly is an unique place to visit. I recommend staying three nights in Ubud.

STAY:
  • Meruhdani Boutique Hotel
    • Situated in the heart of the culturist Ubud. Meruhdani Boutique Hotel is walking distance to the market, monkey forest, restaurants, Palace-Puri and many more attractions. The hotel also has a lush garden and a large tropical pool, which is very refreshing after a long day of touring.

Quick Itinerary:

Day One: If you are coming from the Munduk area, visit the waterfalls in the morning then have an early dinner in Ubud. Make sure to get to bed early since you will be waking up around 2am to hike Mount Batur!

Day Two: Watch the sunrise over Mount Batur! This is truly a once in a lifetime experience. Set up your guide to the mountain with your driver. Be sure to schedule an easy, relaxing day – this early hike will wear you out!

Day Three: After being well rested, it is time to now fully immerse yourself in Ubud! Take a morning stroll on the Campuhun Ridge, visit the shops and temples, walk through the rice fields, and watch the monkeys play in the Monkey Sanctuary Forest. End your evening with dinner at Milk & Madu {my personal favorite}.

Day Four: Depart in the morning to Gili T. After doing extensive research, Bluewater Express seemed like the safest choice. I am sure you have read the horror stories on how horrific the boat crossing can be. That being said, it is worth the extra cost to book with Bluewater. I was pleasantly surprised how easy and more importantly safe it was. Bluewater Express will pick you up directly from your hotel in Ubud and transfer you to the Gilis.
